About the Faculty

The Faculty of History offers undergraduate and graduate studies, doctoral studies and postgraduate studies, educating nearly a thousand students.

The structure of the Faculty includes 4 Institutes: History, Anthropology, Archeology and History of Art.

The Faculty of History of the University of Gdańsk offers eight fields of study - History, German Studies, Sightseeing and Historical Tourism, Religious Studies, Archeology, Ethnology, History of Art and the new one: Preservation of Cultural Heritage and Museology.

Since new academic year 2023/2024 we offer new bachelor programme Museology and Preservation of  Cultural Heritage and a master programme in Religious Studies.

In total, the Faculty employs over 80 academic teachers.

The Faculty of History cooperates extensively with many universities and research centers in Poland and abroad.

Students

More than 500 people start studying at the Faculty of History every year. They can choose one of eight undergraduate and six master programmes that our Faculty offers.

Students of the Faculty of History are active and develop their interests in numerous students’ organizations, such as:

  • Archaeology and Mediterranean Archaeology Students Associations
  • Student Association of Historians
  • History of Art Students’ Association
  • Ethnology Students Association SKENE
  • Society of Religious studies.

In 2023, a new interdepartmental student research club for fans of digital and analogue games UGaming (UGranie) was established at the the University of Gdańsk.

Our students take part in field trips and excavations, organize miscellaneous student’s events, meetings, exhibitions, as well as take a part in numerous conferences. They are socially engaged and creative.
