Prof. Dr. Anna Mazurkiewicz as a visiting profesor to The Leibniz ScienceCampus in Regensburg

The Leibniz ScienceCampus Europe and America in the Modern World is delighted to welcome Prof. Dr. Anna Mazurkiewicz to Regensburg as a visiting professor from April to July 2022. She holds the Chair in Contemporary History at the Faculty of History at the University of Gdansk (Poland), while in Regensburg, she will be based at the Graduate School of East and Southeast European Studies (GSOSES-UR), one of the ScienceCampus’ partner institutions.
 
On 28 April, at 14:15 in Room 319 Altes Finanzamt, she will give a lecture as part of the ScienceCampus/Graduate School research colloquium: “Cold War Instruments”? Exiles from East Central Europe in U.S. political warfare. You are all warmly invited to attend.  In Regensburg, she will also teach a seminar on Cold War Exiles in the Global Cold War (Tuesdays, 10-12), which colleagues in Regensburg are welcome to add to their study programmes. As an expert on Eastern European - US relations in the Cold War and migration history, Anna Mazurkiewicz’s research and publications have explored the United States after World War II; U.S.-Polish diplomatic relations; media system in the United States; U.S. policy towards the countries of East Central Europe; political activity of refugees from East Central Europe in the United States after World War II; political emigration from East Central Europe in 1945-1989. Her most recent book is the award-winning Voice of the Silenced Peoples in the Global Cold War: The Assembly of Captive European Nations 1954-1972 (Berlin-Boston: De Gruyter 2021). The Leibniz ScienceCampus is a joint project of the University of Regensburg and the Leibniz Institute for East and Southeast European Studies (IOS). This summer semester, it will welcome two further visiting professors and several visiting fellows to Regensburg from its partner institutions around the world.
