Professor John Dunn and his student Ms Hannah Clark from Valdosta State University (USA, Georgia) as guests of the Faculty of History, University of Gdańsk

From May 12th to June 1st 2022 Prof. John Dunn and his student Ms Hannah Clark were guests of the Faculty of History, University of Gdańsk.

During their stay in Gdańsk they had the opportunity to meet students of the Faculty and participate in joint classes. On May 18th they participated in field classes on the “Methodology of organizing tourist events” (2nd year, Historical Tourism) organized by Prof. Magdalena Nowak. UG students took our guests on a professional tour around the monuments of the Gdańsk Main Town. On May 26th prof. Dunn and Ms. Clark participated in jointly prepared classes devoted to Polish and American society as part of the subject “Civilization of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries” organized by Prof. Magdalena Nowak. The-3rd-year students of Historical Tourism showed very good preparation and fluent command of English. Our guests had the opportunity to taste traditional dumplings and cider cake prepared by Polish students. The refreshments delighted our guests.

Prof. John Dunn and Ms Hannah Clark along with students from the University of Michigan-Dearborn (USA) also participated in a tour around Oliwa. Their guides were the 2nd-year-students of Historical Tourism and Prof. Magdalena Nowak. On May 27 Prof. John Dunn took part in the promotion of prof. Zbigniew Opacki’s book entitled Wydział Humanistyczny Uniwersytetu Stefana Batorego w Wilnie 1919-1939, Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Gdańskiego, Gdańsk 2021/The Faculty of Humanities of the Stefan Batory University in Vilnius 1919-1939, Publishing House of the University of Gdańsk, Gdańsk 2021. Our American guests from VSU also visited the Malbork Castle, there guide was Katarzyna Czaykowska, and the Museum in Szymbark, the Museum and the Collegiate Church in Kartuzy with the guide and tourist instructor Krzysztof Nowak. We are happy that they could actively and interestingly spent their time in Gdańsk.
