Gdańsk ID” Zoom webinar, January 15th, 2022
We would like to invite you to participate in the first in a series of Zoom webinars, entitled “Gdańsk ID”. Its organizers are the Polish Institute of Arts and Sciences of America, the Faculty of History of the University of Gdańsk in cooperation with the University of Michigan-Dearborn and the International Border Studies Center UG.
The series of meetings will be devoted to the problems of identity. During our first meeting, we would like to discuss the identity of Gdańsk. Please, find details on the flyer below.
Prof. Dunn was a guest at the student field activity
Prof. John Dunn from Valdosta State University was our guest for outdoor classes offered to students working in UG’s Historical tourism MA (weekend course), November 13th, December 4th and 11th 2021.
Prof. Dunn is a visiting professor at the Faculty of History, University of Gdańsk in winter semester 2021/2022. We were delighted to show him around Oliwa and its beautifully forested hills. At the same time he could peer observe prof. Magdalena Nowak’s outdoor classes and experience being guided by the Polish students.

Cooperation with Ukraine in the Erasmus + KA107 program (cooperation with partner countries of the European Union)
The Faculty of History of the University of Gdańsk has established cooperation with Ukraine, the partner country of the European Union within the Erasmus + program (KA107). It was based on the earlier developed scholarly and research contacts, joint conferences and publications. The Erasmus + cooperation includes the exchange of teaching staff with two universities: the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv (2019-2021 and 2020-2022) and the Poltava National Pedagogical University. W. H. Korolenka in Poltava (2020-2022).
Gdańsk-Danzig-Gduńsk within the Baltic Borderlands
Because of its genius location – Gdańsk is a perfect space to sample intercultural encounters, offering lessons of coexistence and conflict, of diversity and exclusion.
International Student Project
During the 2020/2021 summer semester, thanks to the collaboration between the University of Gdańsk and the University of Michigan-Dearborn, our 3rd year History students had the opportunity to work closely with American students. The project was supervised by professor Anna Mazurkiewicz (UG) and professor Anna Muller (U of Michigan-Dearborn) with the help of mgr Iwona Flis (UG) and mgr Anna Podciborska (UG).
Border Seminar
On May 27th 2021, during an international conference entitled: BORDER SEMINAR, a new research center was inaugurated at the UG. The International Border Studies Center (IBSC) at the University of Gdańsk is an independent research unit fostering and promoting the UG’s international cooperation and interdisciplinary research in humanities and social sciences.
