It’s Here! The Latest SEA-EU Newsletter Full of Opportunities for the UG Community
A photography contest, workshops on grants for young researchers, or a summer school beyond the Arctic Circle? The latest SEA-EU newsletter presents exceptional initiatives for various groups within the UG academic community. Students, academic staff, and administrative employees are invited to explore the diverse opportunities available. The newsletter was also distributed via central mailing among students and employees of the University of Gdańsk.
Call for Abstracts for the ZORH Conference – for Students
Over 150 researchers from across Europe will gather in Split from April 9-11, 2025, for the ZORH conference, focusing on ecology and sustainable production. Participants can apply to present their research through oral presentations or poster sessions. There are 12 thematic categories to choose from, including marine and ocean pollution, endangered species in protected areas, new technologies in environmental protection, and the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on the environment. Thanks to additional funding, five UG students whose abstracts are accepted may receive financial support to cover travel and participation costs. Registration is open until March 3, 2025.
NORD Summer School – for Students
The summer school organized by NORD University offers four intensive thematic courses:
Experiences of Nature Adventure, Sustainable Blue Growth in the High North, Sustainable Tourism Development in (Arctic) Coastal Communities and Introduction to Zooplankton Biodiversity and Ecology. Students will explore the region’s sustainable development strategy while immersing themselves in Norwegian culture and nature. Each UG student can apply for one course within the Nord Summer School 2025. Registration is open until March 5, 2025. The best applications meeting all formal requirements will receive funding.
English Language Courses – for Administrative Staff
English language courses have been designed for administrative staff who regularly interact with international students, employees, and guests or participate in international events. Participants will develop their knowledge of terminology related to administrative work, customer service, and business correspondence. The courses will be offered both online and on-site at the UG campus. Registration is open until March 4, 2025.
Photography Contest – for the Entire UG Academic Community
The next edition of the SEA-EU photography contest is now open for employees and students from the nine SEA-EU partner universities. This year’s theme is cultural traditions. The winner will receive a travel voucher worth €800. All works will be presented at an international exhibition at Kiel University in June 2025.Submissions are accepted online until April 17, 2025.
MSCA PF Training – for Researchers
What career opportunities does the SEA-EU alliance offer? How can researchers secure prestigious research fellowships in Europe and beyond? These and other questions will be addressed in a full-day workshop on Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships, organized as part of the SEA-EU partnership. The event will take place online on March 7 and is aimed at postdoctoral researchers from various scientific fields looking to advance their careers through international research projects. Mentors interested in hosting young researchers for internships are also welcome to participate.
Ongoing Opportunities Available Year-Round!
Virtual Tandem Language Exchange – for the Entire UG Academic Community
This program is open to all UG students and employees interested in learning foreign languages. Tandem sessions involve two participants who exchange their knowledge of languages they speak fluently. Participants independently determine the frequency and format of their sessions, the scope of materials, and learning methods. Enrollment is open year-round.
SEA-EU Master Internships – International Internship Opportunities for Master’s Students
Students interested in conducting research at foreign universities, improving their language skills, or investing in their academic and professional development can take advantage of unique Master’s internship opportunities at one of the nine coastal SEA-EU partner universities. There are currently over 100 available placements across various disciplines. The minimum duration of the internship is 60 days. All mobility programs for UG students are funded by Erasmus+, and internships must be completed during the 2024/2025 academic year.
Funding for mobility to the NORD Summer School and English language courses is provided as part of the project "Support for Synergistic and Complementary Activities of the SEA-EU 2.0 Project – SEA-nergy," which is part of the NAWA program "Support for European University Alliances" under the European Funds for Social Development.
